We don’t have set opening hours like a traditional shelter, as all of our cats live in foster homes. Visits are by appointment only, but you’re always welcome to meet us and our cats at our monthly Adoption Days.
A Safe Place for Meow is run entirely by volunteers who also have jobs, families, and of course, cats of their own. Because of this, we aren’t always available to take calls. The quickest way to reach us is by email or through our social media pages, and one of our volunteers will get back to you as soon as possible.
We don’t operate like a traditional shelter. All of our cats live in loving foster homes until they find their forever families. This helps them stay relaxed and happy, and lets us learn more about their personalities. Because of this, we don’t have a shelter for walk-ins, but you’re always welcome to meet us and some of our cats at our monthly Adoption Days . If there’s a particular cat you’d like to meet, just send us an adoption enquiry and we’ll arrange a meet-and-greet with their foster carer.
We only accept surrenders for cats that were originally adopted from us. If your cat was adopted through A Safe Place for Meow, feel free to reach out to us. Our main focus is rescuing and rehoming stray cats, and as a small volunteer-run rescue, our spaces are very limited. If your cat wasn’t adopted from us, there are other local rescues you can reach out to who may be able to help.
We’re not able to take in found cats. If you’ve found a cat, your first point of call is to contact your local vet to check for a microchip — this is the quickest way to reunite them with their family if they have one. From there, the vet will be able to guide you on the next steps, and many clinics work closely with local rescues on rehoming if needed.
